Privacy

This page describes how Surveylab collects information about

  1. users accessing its web site (www.surveylab.co.uk), and
  2. users taking part in a survey hosted by Surveylab.

Surveylab Limited is a company registered in England. At Surveylab, we provide services to organisations and businesses for conducting various types of research surveys to customers / staff / visitors / users / members / consumers, etc. From time-to-time, we may also sponsor our own research study. Surveylab does not sell or supply email addresses.

1. Users accessing our web site

Generally, information collected about visitors to our web site (www.surveylab.co.uk) does not contain personally identifying information. We track pages visited / files viewed, date and time of visit, the referring web-site and IP address*.

We do not capture email addresses or any other personal information from visitors simply browsing pages on our web site.

* The IP address might reveal information about the country you are located in, and/or the organisation / domain that you are using to connect to the internet (this could be your ISP or the company you work for).

2. Users taking part in a survey

All of our surveys provide a link to a privacy statement explaining how information will be processed and used. Depending on the research objectives, the use of survey data can differ between different surveys so users taking part in a survey should refer to the individual survey’s privacy statement to understand the specific privacy policy in use at the time. Unless stated otherwise in the individual survey’s privacy information:

  • A participant’s survey response is confidential and will never be linked to personally identifying information
  • If the survey is on behalf of a client, any personal information entered as part of the survey (e.g name, contact information and email address), will not be shared with the client
  • Personal information (e.g. name, contact information and email address) will never be sold to or shared with any other company or organisation
  • Participants may decline to complete a survey, decline to answer a specific question or opt to drop out at any time
  • Survey data is analysed and reported in an aggregated format. It is possible that answers given to open-ended (verbatim) questions could identify the participant (for example if one wrote “my mother, [mother's name], is …”)

Use of survey-codes / Unique Identifiers

Surveylab often uses ‘surveycodes’ to identify individuals. The surveycode is only used by Surveylab to:

  • Identify who has/has not completed the survey so that emails are only sent to participants who have not yet taken the survey
  • Help prevent duplicate submissions of the questionnaire which could affect results

Surveylab will not reveal an individual’s identity, via the surveycode, to a client or any other company/organisations. Individuals’ responses are not investigated (please also check the individual survey’s privacy policy).

Security

Surveylab has appropriate systems in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of survey data collected.
